How did you get started in bodybuilding/fitness?

When I was a personal trainer at my university I fell in love with weight lifting and was training pretty regularly, about five days a week. Many people at my gym would ask me if I was training for a figure competition and I would just reply that I like lifting. After I graduated I found myself with a lot of spare time and so I decided to give bodybuilding a try. I’ve been hooked ever since!

What are the top 2 ways you keep motivated?

My bodybuilding shows and fitness modeling keep me motivated to stay in shape.

What was the biggest hurdle you had to overcome in your bodybuilding/fitness career/goal thus far?

My biggest hurdle has been learning to manage a full time job, fitness modeling, bodybuilding and starting my company Rachel-Michel Ltd.

In your opinion what is the hardest part about being a bodybuilder/fitness model/competitor?

Discipline is by far the hardest part about being in bodybuilding.

If you had to ratio the importance of training, diet and rest, what would the percentages look like and why?  (e.g. 20% training, 30% diet, 30% rest)

50% diet

35% training

15% rest

Training and rest are important, but after depleting before my first show I realized how much your body can be manipulated by diet alone.

What is your current training routine?

I’m currently bulking for my next figure competition, the Emerald Cup in April 2010, and lift about 5 days a week. I do legs/shoulders, chest/bi, and back/tri splits.

What is your current diet routine?

I eat about 9 times a day lol. Here’s a sample of what I ate today:

Obsessed is just a word the lazy use to describe the dedicated.

Breakfast Oatmeal (1 cup)
Tilapia
Broccoli (2 cups)
Almonds (1/8 cup)
Snacks Chicken (4 oz.)
Chicken (4 oz.)

Lunch Salad

Dinner Oatmeal (1/2 cup)

How did you get those awesome arms?

Definitely all those hours pounding out reps in the gym!

Favorite quote?

‘Obsessed is just a word the lazy use to describe the dedicated’

Best type of cardio?

Morning cardio running around my neighborhood.

What do you like to do outside of training and dieting?

I love playing sports like sand volleyball, wake boarding and snowboarding.

What is your favorite body part to train?  Your least favorite?

I love training my back, and my least favorite would be legs. Leg days just aren’t fun lol!
